Yesterday I realised that Valentine’s Day is so nearly upon us… A week from today to be exact! Personally, I’m not a fan of the traditional, commercial, Valentine’s Day gifts or the fact that if you go out everything is so much more expensive just because it’s Valentine’s Day. However, I do love an opportunity to do something nice and find a gift that makes a loved one happy. I’ve therefore put together a few ideas for a unique Valentine’s Day Gift Guide.
Cake for Two
A fellow Frenchie is behind Zaza Marcelle. Her new creation, just in time for Valentine’s Day, is a limited-edition small cake to share with your other half ❤️????! You can choose between two cakes, as delicious sounding as they are beautiful:
- a moist Moroccan orange blossom sponge filled with Sicilian pistachio cream and raspberry preserve, and
- a rich chocolate sponge filled with a dark chocolate whipped ganache infused with jasmine tea.
If you’ve followed me on my Emerald & Jade Flowers feed, it will come as no surprise that I am a huge fan of Heartfelt Vintage . This month, they have focused on celebrating our relationships with our friends, hence Palentines. In their words:
February is all about celebrating friendship here at Heartfelt Towers. Yeah, yeah we know it’s the month of ‘love’ but the faintest whisper of Valentines day can leave some of us wanting to run for the hills. Instead, we’re focussing our attention on some of our longest and most enduring relationships, our friendships. Friends are awesome! Romantic relationships may come and go, but often our friends remain a constant. They’re there to celebrate the good times with and commiserate through the bad.
Having personally tested a fair amount of their cakes and afternoon teas over the years, I can personally vouch for them. So if you have a friend you haven’t seen in a while, someone you need to thank or if you simply want a good old catch up then come and celebrate your friendship with Heartfelt Vintage this month.
I do love receiving surprises in the post, and this pamper set available on Notonthehighstreet.com looks amazing.
The perfect luxurious British gift set containing everything for a relaxing spa night, beautifully presented and designed to fit through the letterbox.
A perfect gift if you can’t be with your loved one on the day but still want them to know you’re thinking of them.
If your other half loves flowers, why not offer something different to the usual bouquet? Tallulah Rose Flower School in Bath offers lots of different courses, including a half day course where you can learn how to create your own hand-tied bouquet.
I can personally vouch for the flower school as it is where I trained as a florist. The venue, the flowers and the teachers are create a wonderful, magical time and your other half will love it.
Reasons Why You Love
A few years ago, my sister got me a little book “Why I think you’re awesome“. So simple, but it never fails to make me smile when I read it.
For Valentines Day, you can get a similar one called “Why I Love You“. Each page has prompts, where you fill in the blanks to make it personal to your loved one. Whether you go full on soppy or add a little humour, it’s a great personal gift.
Why not add some Instax photos within the pages too?
The Grand Gesture
If you’re thinking of proposing on Valentine’s Day, why not go the extra mile and book yourselves on a workshop to make your own rings? There are loads of workshops accross the country where you can do so, such as with Lucy Lyon in Bristol.
Keep it Simple
If none of the above are right for you, or perhaps if you’re currently saving up the pennies, then go for a good old fashioned love letter.
Just start writing, and see where it take you. Don’t just buy a card and sign your name in it (one of my pet hates!). Write about how your loved one makes you feel, what you love about them, what you’re looking forward to with them, where you see your lives together going.
Or simply make a list of What I Love About You. Can’t beat a Lovely List.
