What I’ve enjoyed the most since first starting my own business back in 2015, has been meeting other business owners. I have never met more passionate, driven people than I have in the self-employed, creative world.
My Introduction Into The world of creatives
After a career in law, I first stepped into the world of self employment as an events florist. Since then I have also set up a gite business in France.
Whilst I loved having a creative job after a decade spent in the legal world, I soon realised that what I loved the most, was meeting and working with other entrepreneurs.
I loved holding business meetings with other business owners, whether planned at networking events, or impromptu ones whilst conditioning flowers or simply over coffee and cake. I truly loved helping other business owners solve problems they were facing, or help them find ways to make the most of their business.
Over the years, I turned this new found passion of mine into a new business venture.
The Reality of Running Your Business
I know what it’s like running your own business… Between the creating, the researching, the selling and all those extra little steps in between, you keep meaning to get your business online but haven’t quite got to that part yet.
Or perhaps, like many other small business owners, you don’t know where to start. I also know that some of you are a little scared about having an online presence, and worry about putting yourself out there.
The truth is, it’s essential for businesses to be online nowadays. Whether you organise local events, have a physical shop, an online shop or mainly provide online services, unless you go online, it will be very difficult for your business to increase. And, well, you’ve worked too hard for your business not to do well.
I know money is also a big concern, especially when you’re starting out and you know just how hard you work for your money. It can be hard investing your hard earnt cash into promoting your business. But unless you start promoting your business more, and yourself, your business may not grow as much as you like. It can be an incredibly frustrating process.
Most of all, I’m here to remind you that it can, and should be, fun! After all, your business is a part of you, so you should absolutely let YOU shine through your online presence. Once you have the right tools and the right knowledge, it can become a fun process of your business, rather than a chore. If you still don’t like it, well I know plenty of amazing creatives who can help with sides of running your business that you don’t enjoy.
